Keeping Up with Daily Calories

If you figure out approximately how many calories you need on a daily basis (to do this, see Estimating Daily Caloric Needs), then the next step is keeping track of your calories on a daily basis so that you know whether or not you are above or below your daily target.  A cool site that can help you do that is this: http://www.fitday.com/.  Check it out.  It’s good. We Can Do This the Hard Way, or the Easy Way

So, yesterday I introduced a couple of formulas to compute estimates of your daily caloric needs.  But, if you don’t feel like breaking out your pencils and calculators, there is an easier way to get your daily caloric estimate.  I was reminded of this when Martin O’Connor asked the following great question: “Do you include a FREE LINK to a calculator site?”  Well, sure.  Here it is: Calorie Calculator.  I like that one.  Check it out.  If you click on the “Advanced Options” link, it gives options for the “Harris-Benedict formula, which was described in yesterday’s post, as well as two other methods for daily caloric calculation.
