Never Give In!

July 29, 2009

Man, sometimes I don’t feel like working out.  Sometimes the people I’m working with don’t feel like working out.

Some of our greatest enemies are apathy

and sloth.

One slothful guy!

One slothful guy!

Here are some words of wisdom from Winston Churchill that instruct on how to deal with these enemies and the temptations they present.

Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large or petty–never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.

  1. Winston Churchill was an amazing character; I was hearing someone talk about him recently who pointed out that he always acknowledged that a situation was difficult, whilst showing determination to overcome it. I think that’s an important balance. Just like you say, getting going on working out is extremely tough, but determination is the key to gaining the benefits.

Curchill was a great cat. He never backed down from a challenge.

I read not long ago that he took an afternoon nap to help stay focused, sounds like a great idea.

    What awesome, powerful words!

    Churchill was an amazing guy.

A friend of mine dated his grand daughter. She looked a lot like him, I’m afraid to say! :-)

  5. I LIKE the Sloth! We can learn from him, too! How to RECUPERATE! lol

  6. These photos of the napping guy and our cute lil sloth just crack me up.

Indeed, having a sense of humor is a wonderful additional healthy tool we have in coping with grief and bereavement when appropriate.
