Success and Health

July 8, 2009

Yesterday I mentioned that I’m reading a book called, “How to Get Rich”, by Felix Dennis. Felix is from the UK. His writing style is blunt and no-nonsense. As JJ Jalopy (writer of a FANTASTIC blog) mentioned in his reply to yesterday’s post, Felix Dennis reminds him of another no-nonsense UK guy — Duane Cunningham (writer of another GREAT blog). I agree. Now that I think about it, JJ Jalopy is from the UK too! Those UK guys seem to be cut from similar cool/blunt cloth.

Anyway, here’s a question for you: Can a person be truly successful is he/she is not healthy? What do you think? My opinion is that a fully successful person will be successful in ALL areas of life — financial, family and/or social, and most especially physically (HEALTH).

If a person doesn’t have health, then he/she can’t enjoy success in any other area of life (because that person will be in a hospital bed or at home in bed or something like that). Isn’t life without health necessarily no fun?

Also, for those of you looking to become wealthy, health is of utmost importance, as is your fitness. As Felix Dennis puts it, “People in poor health usually find it difficult, no matter how clever they are, to muster the stamina that becoming rich demands. In any case, when you are really [feeling] poorly, the allure of wealth rapidly recedes — except as far as first-class health care is concerned.”

So it seems to me that health is a primary component of the fully successful life. Also, health AND fitness (because of work demands) are absolutely necessary for those working to become wealthy. What do you think?
